March Mattingly

I create both abstract and figurative artwork, and my favorite is to combine both styles into evocative and cohesive artistic compositions that tell a story; not literally, but of relationships, emotions and events in the lives of animals and humans within the natural world.

I find inspiration constantly in the world around me, from my imagination, from colors and shapes that I see and from the infinite variety of patterns and subject matter that are all around us. Life offers an endless kaleidoscope of visual elements that surround us every day, that not all people may notice or appreciate. By bringing these elements to life on a canvas, I feel that I am translating these into forms that people will notice and that will inspire their own interpretations.
