Katharina Michalak

I am a local architect who also enjoys watercolor painting and other creative pursuits. I learned how to watercolor while studying abroad in Italy, using the media to study the buildings, shadows, textures, and landscapes. Now I have multiple small travel setups that I take with me on local hikes, vacations, and daily stops by coffee shops. Painting is my way of slowing down to really enjoy and observe the world around me.

I also enjoy exploring colors and textures through abstract watercolor, and working with natural dyes and cyanotype on fabric. These more abstract studies help me relinquish control and see what happens when you experiment and become more playful with your craft.
