Alli Waddell

Hi, I’m Alli.

Wild Prism Studios exists because I accidentally fell in love with clay.

A few years ago, I was burned out. As a business owner, wife, and mom of two teenagers, life felt full of responsibilities but short on creativity. I’ve always been a creative person, but somewhere along the way that part of me got pushed aside. So I signed up for a pottery class, hoping to carve out a little time for myself.

Instead, I fell completely down the rabbit hole.

What started as a weekly class quickly became an obsession. I couldn’t stop thinking about clay, color, form, and all the possibilities hiding inside a lump of mud. Pottery felt less like finding a new hobby and more like finding a lost piece of myself.

Creativity has always been part of my story. I’m the daughter of artist and sculptor Hank Waddell, and while it took me a while to find my own medium, I think I was always destined to make things with my hands.

Today, I create one-of-a-kind ceramics and porcelain jewelry inspired by color, curiosity, and the beauty hiding in everyday life. I find inspiration everywhere, from fabric patterns and wildflowers to vintage dishes and modern design. I’m especially drawn to colored clay and the Japanese technique of nerikomi, where patterns and designs are built directly into the clay itself. I love the combination of precision and surprise, and the way each piece reveals its own unique story as it’s shaped and finished.

Most of my work is one of a kind. I don’t make perfect pieces. I make joyful ones.

Every piece that leaves my studio is made by hand in Austin, Texas, with the hope that it brings a little more beauty, playfulness, and color into your world.

Thanks for being here and supporting this wonderfully muddy adventure.
