Joyce gets her Inspiration from the lake by her home and the nature around her as well as travel and memories of her past. Hill country rock formations, caves, and mini waterfalls are evident in her work by her use of circles, motion, lines, and color. Many layers of paint, collage pieces, and marks form subtle surprises on closer inspection making her art a visual delight from any distance.
The art process invites experimentation and a “go with the flow” attitude in the beginning stages. She seldom has a theme in mind, with each stroke influencing the next and the next until the artwork informs a direction. At that point there is serious scrutiny and problem solving adding informed layers until a pleasant balance is reached.
