Botanicals are my muse and my point of entry into each painting. They provide a familiar structure through which I explore color, composition, and movement—allowing each piece to unfold beyond representation.
My work is informed by a layered set of influences, from my Indian heritage and upbringing on the border of Mexico to my training as a gemologist. I’m drawn to richness, vibrancy, and pattern, and I approach each composition with an awareness of how individual elements come together to create a cohesive whole. Some elements are deliberately placed, while others emerge more intuitively, creating a dynamic interplay between structure and movement.
Experimentation with materials is an essential part of my process. I move between mediums and finishes—building layers that create depth, contrast, and visual rhythm. These shifts in texture and surface allow the work to hold both control and spontaneity.
While my work often references florals and vessels, it is less about depiction and more about transformation—how color relationships shift, how forms evolve, and how layers create depth within the painting. I often incorporate gold as a way to introduce light and contrast, a subtle nod to my Indian heritage as well as my background in jewelry and gemstones, where material, reflection, and placement carry meaning.
