I’ve spent the last 7 years teaching beginner and community pottery classes across Central Texas. My goal is for students to leave class encouraged in their innate creative abilities so they can take the creative bravery they practice in the studio into other areas of work and life.
Before starting Brave Ceramics, I worked as a social worker helping foster and adoptive children and families. The pressure of this work led me back to a ceramic practice from college as a way to emotionally recenter. After several years in the studio, I excitedly changed careers to work full time as a ceramic artist in 2017 building a business through art tours, markets and classes to support others in their artistic practice.
I have been fortunate to be selected as a Clayfest ceramic artist for the last two years and expand my community.
This January, I was selected for a ceramic residency in Japan that broadened my design perspectives and encouraged me to take more risks with imperfections.
Working as a production potter, I’ve been able to focus on the creation and functional design of dinnerware, and I am looking to further explore surface glaze designs utilizing printmaking techniques.
